The transition from working full time to working alone is quite a change. I never in a hundred years would have thought I would be where I am today. I had my second child last September and the realisation of going back to work and not affording childcare suddenly sunk in. There was no way it was possible. My daughter had just started school and it would have meant a lot of faffing around with her being looked after if I went back to work. The only thing that scares me is not having my regular salary at the end of each month.
After a lot of thinking, thinking and more thinking, the decision was made and my new business venture was well under way. I had some idea of what I was doing but all the rules, regs and behind the scene shenanigans were out of my hands. Social media is not one of my strengths so setting up all my accounts for the business was a challenge especially keeping them updated.
3 months after all the planning, I was ready to rock and roll. I was no longer Jay Guest, married with 2 kids... I was Jay Guest, married with 2 kids and a new business called Pink Star PA. It was daunting but exciting at the same time.
The business is effectively a Virtual Assistant which provides administrative support to individuals and small businesses. I have the freedom of doing the school run while being at home with my son.
So far so good. I am literally on a roll. Juggling the kids is a job in it'self and some of the housework gets put on the back burner but this is what I wanted. I get to work in my pj's with no make up on, well until the school run at least. The freedom of choosing my own hours and spending time with the family is such a great perk.
This is just the start of my new venture. I can't wait to see what the future holds. So if anyone is thinking of making it on their own, I hope I have given some glimmer of hope to you xx
